Post Number One

Today I, Publius Virgilus Marco, begin work on my newest creation: the Aeneid. I shall sing of arms and the man who first came from the shores of Troy . . . I will write my epic poem in the form of dactylic hexameter. Only the great gods on Mount Olympus know when this poem shall be completed; but in the event that I pass away before its completion, I do not wish for the uncompleted writings to be released into the public. I appreciate your understanding and total compliance.

And remember my children, amor vincit omnia.

  1. Friend Request: Dearest Virgil, I hope you will accept this friend request because you are a good friend of mine. Sure, currently in Rome you are the #1 writer; but I must say, I'm a close 2nd.

  3. It is nothing but the truth! Now, how about we go to the baths today and just socialize? I had this excellent dish there yesterday! Roast duck with hazelnuts, made only with the freshest ingredients. Here's the recipe:
6 oz. hazelnuts 2 teaspoons chopped dried mint
2 teaspoons chopped fresh lovage or celery leaf
    2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh catmint
    2 tablespoons clear honey
10 fl oz red wine (my favorite!)
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    5 fl oz fish sauce
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper
    Pinch saffron powder or strands
3 lb duck, chicken or other bird

Does it not sound delectable? These types of things make life pleasurable.
